plant-based diets extend life.

i just got finished watching this film called ‘forks over knives’. if you haven’t seen it, i would plead with you to watch it. it goes into details while covering the stories of many people with terminal illnesses and certain diseases who cured themselves by cutting dairy-based proteins and meats out of their diets, and adopting a plant-based, essentially vegan diet. the results of this diet change were incredible. cancer was cured, chances of getting cancer were reduced by 60% or more, diabetes was cured, and ultimate fitness and health levels were achieved. the studies are very in-depth and explained simply - so simple, i’m almost positive i’m going to adopt a vegan, mostly raw diet of my own. if you have netflix, look up the film and watch it. it will change your life. a few of my favorite parts:

  • The number 1 killer of in-the-line-of-duty fire fighters is heart disease. (70%)
  • “Drinking milk makes no sense. What is sensible about taking the milk of one animal, and trying to nourish another animal with the same milk?”
  • If it hopped, swam, crawled, walked, ran, breathed, and had a mom and a dad, don’t eat it.
  • 500 calories of plant based food fills our stomach and tells our brains we’re full. 500 calories of animal based foods and high fructose corn syrup doesn’t even come close to filling us.
  • Plant-based proteins prevent cancers, while animal-based proteins cause it.

we’re told to eat lean chicken and fish to be our healthiest, but i don’t think this is true at all. i really don’t. watching something like this has made me change my entire perspective on ‘diet’. this isn’t about low calorie or losing weight or eating what we think is healthy. put in your body what belongs inside of it, what will help your body from the insides, and what is clean enough to deserve to be inside your vessel of life. i can’t imagine putting cake or a hamburger in my body because that food isn’t beneficial at all. i don’t care how it tastes, why would i punish my body instead of fuel and replenish it?

FALSE! absolutely false! unless you’re going to pick the girl who is pale, sunken, blotchy skinned, frowning, exhausted with bags under her eyes, weak, blacking out, and hollow over the girl who is glowing, fresh-faced, bright-eyed, smiling, running and laughing and feeling confident. not eating does not all of a sudden make you a sex symbol and a super model - it makes you sick. it makes your hair fall out and your skin lose the color and life that compliments your smile so nicely. not eating makes your friends and your social life go away and brings you loneliness and depression along with severe mood swings and anxiety. it brings you a racing heart, not a body that can do a trillion things, including looking strong in that goal weight bikini and being able to fuck the shit out of your new boyfriend. take care of yourselves. not eating won’t make you love who you are, and that’s the most important part people don’t recognize. not the hip bones, not the thigh gap, not the size double zero jeans. the smile, the confidence, the laugher and the love of who you are. that is sexy. that is true beauty.
